A Long Awaited Update

Ok, ok... So we just realized that this whole blog thing doesn't update itself, sorry I'm a little slow. The thing that gets me is how fast time flies by when you're staying busy. Allie will be nine months in ten days! Last time we updated this page, Allie was getting dedicated at our church and our new nephew was recently born.

What's going on now... everything! Allie first word was actually "baby", which she repeated after hearing it from another toddler and hasn't said since. After that was "dada dada dada", that's right; not "mama". Although "mama" has now entered the equation and "dada" has obviously been put on the back burner until about 4am when Allie wants a diaper and some milk.

Nursing has been a big challange for me. Allie now has six teeth, four up top and two on the bottom. BUT I have no choice since she refuses formula and breast milk out of the bottle or sippy cup. I am doing my best to stay strong.

Allie is crawling super fast. She has been pulling herself up on everything, especially other people or babies but hasn't really tried to start walking. We just went to the doctor on Friday and Allie had another double ear infection. The doctor stated that this in not a good sign and it puts us one step closer to going to see ENT. We are praying otherwise because we don't want her to have to get tubes. She weighed pounds!

Allie's Aunt Casey is ENGAGED! We are super excited and will be heading to Dallas to see her this weekend to celebrate. Call us if you are interested in hanging out.

On the Move

Sorry for the long absence, Lindsey has been really busy lately so I thought I would give a quick update. Today, however; did warrant a new post as Allie is now on the move. Just one day shy of 7 months, Allie decided that it was time to put the gitty up in her own step (or should I say crawl). Just like her mother, the only thing that could get her to move was putting the cell phone in front of her. Allie took off moving like she had been practicing in her crib at night when she should have been sleeping.

Today was also a big milestone for Allie as it was her first lake trip!!! Allie loves the water and taking baths so I'm sure she can't wait for the water to warm up. Grandma's barge will be the hot spot of the summer.

Easter went well, Allie was spoiled by her Nanny with about a dozen outfits and books in her Easter basket. We were able to see both sides of the family and spend plenty of time with each. Pot Roast was the meal of the day - twice.

On 04/07/2009, Lindsey and I welcomed our 4th nephew into the world. Bryant Cole Engelke weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces. He was a tiny little guy that came out in 3 pushes (Lindsey was jealous) Here is a picture of the Bryant.

Here are a couple more pictures of the last month.

Thanks to all who read our blog,
Marcus Goodnight

ANOTHER ear infection

Just got back from a doctors appointment and Allie has another ear infection. The last couple of days she has not been sleeping well and has been a little fussy. I took her in thinking there was a possible chance of a ear infection. I was right and they said it was a BAD ear infection. They put her on strong antibiotics and want to watch her ears to see if she might need tubes. We are hoping that is not the case and that teething is just the cause of the infection. The doctor was very helpful and we were glad she is ok!

We are so proud of Allie. She is sitting up without support. She can sit for several minutes before falling back. We still keep the pillow behind her for safety. She is so strong and just wants to get up and walk. She is scooting herself in circles but just hasn't been able to move forward. We are so proud of her.

Allie loves to be naked. Here is a picture of her hanging out with her daddy in the nude. I love her expression in this picture...its like she got caught . This picture was taken shortly after she was trying to suck on her toes. I love these funny moments and motherhood has been amazing. Marcus and I love being parents and it has been extremely rewarding.

First Tooth

Allie got her first tooth this weekend. We are very excited for her and she is handling it well. She has not been too fussy but Mom and Dad did go buy her some medication to help soothe the pain. She is 5 months and one week so it seems like she is getting her teeth early. She has a little sharp tooth sticking out of her gums (poor baby.) She wants to chew on anything she can get her hands on.
Marcus's mom and dad bought me a camcorder for my birthday so there will be videos coming soon. I was not able to get a picture of her first tooth because she would never sit that still for me to get a picture. I am including pictures of her and best friend (boyfriend...don't tell daddy)

Allie and Maddix play together 2-3 times a week and are totally fascinated with each other.

Look at us holding hands....true love (Daddy just joined D.A.D.D. - Dads Against Daughters Dating)

It seems like Allie knows everytime we pick up the camera because she immediately stops laughing and smiling when it's on (see above pic) and gives us the patented Marcus eyebrow look. Oh well, we keep snapping pics and sooner or later we'll get a few!

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

I just received the email from April about her new blog and thought it was a great idea. It's a good way to catch up with friends and family. As all of you are aware, Marcus and I have a beautiful daughter who just turned five months. It seems like yesterday that I found out I was pregnant. Now, Allie has lots of new friends Maddix, Carter, Brianna and a new nephew on the way! Here are a few recent pictures of Allie! Allie has been sick for a little over a week with croup and ear infections in both ears. We are still hoping that she gets over this cold so that we can come and see Presley for her big birthday bash!
